THE ARTICLE "TARAS SHEVCHENKO MUSEUM"
National Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kiev is located on the boulevard Shevchenko, 12.
In 1933 was founded Gallery of pictures by Shevchenko, which began operations the following year. It was established in Kharkiv Literary Museum of the Institute of Taras Shevchenko. In the gallery of the Institute Shevchenko handed over a hundred art works by the artist.
In 1939, during the 125th anniversary of his birth in Kiev organized by Republican Shevchenko Jubilee Exhibition, where, in addition exhibits art gallery, took materials from museums and archives in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lviv, Leningrad, Moscow, Baku, Saratov.
In 1940 the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR decided to organize in Kyiv Central State Museum, founded on materials Republican Shevchenko exhibition. It was planned to focus all original materials related to the life and works of Taras Shevchenko. Exhibition materials were fixed by the museum. First exhibition was opened in 1941 at the Mariinsky Palace. It had been stored with more than ten thousand items.
Early in the war museum activities ceased. Some of the most valuable artifacts could be evacuated before the German occupation and sent to Novosibirsk. In April 1949 a new exhibition was opened in the building on the boulevard, 12.
The collection of the museum include unique values: original painting works of Taras Shevchenko, documents about his life and work, handwritten list of his poetry, rare photographs of the poet and his friends, first editions of Shevchenko with autographs, various editions of the poet and literature about him, including both lifetime and current domestic and foreign publications. More than four thousand exhibits are located in 24 rooms.
Exhibition halls contain many works of famous artists, composers, sculptors, writers, whose activity reflected the era of the poet, the poet's life and work. Here you can find artwork by authors such as Karl Briullov, Ilya Repin, Vasily Tropinin, John Kramskogo, Basil Sternberg, Ivan Sokolov, Michael Bashylov, Constantine Trutovsky, Leo Zhemchuzhnikov, John Soshenko, Michael Mikeshin, Sergei Vasilkovsky, Nicholas females Athanasius Slastion , Photius Krasitsky, John Izhakevych, Basil Cassian, Michael Deregus, Trokhymenko Karp, Michael Khmelko, Boris Smirnov, Fyodor Kamensky, Peter Klodt, Vladimir Beklemishev, Theodore Balavenskyy, John Kavaleridze, Mikhail Lysenko, Ivan Makogon, Peter Movchun, Valentine Znoba etc.
