Balneological complex “Szechenyi” starts its history in the 70-ies of the XIX century. In 1868, in the City Park, a mining engineer Vilasom Zsigmondy was cut well and found a hot spring. In a short time it was determined that the water coming from this source, has healing properties. Therefore, in 1881 on this source was built first in the pest part of the city of bath. It's called "Artesian baths". The popularity of the baths has increased sharply among those wishing to improve their health. Therefore Artesian pool decided to expand a little. The new pool has received a new name - "the Szechenyi Baths". It was built in neo-Baroque style. Later the building Szechenyi baths were remodeled and expanded several times. In 1927 there was built the pool to the beach. In the 1960-ies of XX century, the Szechenyi baths began to work year-round.

A few years ago, the main building of the Szechenyi baths passed another renovation, which was carried out with the purpose to return to the pool of primordial style.
